On April 12, 2021 PCSO (Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office) said that lotto games are affected by MECQ (Moderate Enhanced Community Quarantine) that causes suspension until April 30, 2021 within this places: Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Abra, Rizal, Quirino, Metro Manila and the city of Santiago in Isabela. It will be a pure disappointment for the lotto players because they thought under ''Modified'' Enhanced Community Quarantine they are guaranteed to buy a ticket to win a lottery.
PCSO noted that places that are not under MECQ shall be maintained unless superseded by issues pertaining to quarantine classification. This means that places that are not covered by MECQ will continue to operate. PCSO also clarified that it's gaming operations in other areas will follow quarantine or localized guidelines of the local government unit (LGUs).
But the question is how they are going to broadcast Lotto Draw on PTV given that their live-stream is every 9 pm seven days a week. Since Cavite is in Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine, I have a suggestion. They should create an electronic version of lotto games like 2-digit, 3-digit, 4-digit, 6-digit, 6/42, 6/45, 6/49, 6/55 and 6/58 by registering online on PCSO website because social media is now in demand towards pandemic such as, online food delivery, online shopping and etc. In that way lotto players have a chance to win big money, big prizes and become a millionaire even in a stay-at-home situation.
I assume that when the virus is gone, many people will line-up in lotto outlets nationwide filling up a ticket with their favorite numbers hoping that their bet will be a ticket of fortune which is a great opportunity. But for now because we are still in a pandemic season and the cases of COVID-19 increases everyday they have to suspend lotto games which sounds disappointing but that's the only way to avoid the transmission of virus to those people who play lotto.
